Step-by-Step Guide to Unlock MacBook from iCloud

Step 1: Remove Activation Lock Using iCloud.com

On any device, go to iCloud.com and sign in with the Apple ID and password associated with the locked MacBook.
Select “Find iPhone” (even though it’s for a Mac, it’s included here).
In the “Find My” menu, click on “All Devices” at the top of the screen.
Choose the MacBook you want to unlock from the list of devices.
Click “Remove from Account” to disable Activation Lock on the MacBook.

Note: This will only work if you have the Apple ID and password for the iCloud account associated with the MacBook.

Step 2: Unlock Directly from the MacBook (If You Have the Password)

Start up the MacBook and enter the password associated with the Apple ID when prompted.
Go to System Settings > Apple ID.
Click iCloud > Find My Mac and turn it off by entering the Apple ID password again.
This will remove the MacBook from iCloud, turning off Activation Lock directly.

Step 3: Contact Apple Support (If You Don’t Have the Apple ID or Password)

If you don’t have access to the Apple ID and password, you’ll need to contact Apple Support. Apple may help unlock the MacBook, but you’ll need to provide proof of purchase to verify ownership.

Visit the Apple Support website.
Request assistance with removing Activation Lock.
Prepare proof of ownership (e.g., purchase receipt or invoice) as Apple will require verification.

Step 4: Remove Your MacFrom 3rd Party Management Systems

If your company uses 3rd party management software, contact your system administrator with a list of model numbers and serial numbers to have them removed.
